Never a better comfort than when a person needs to see where they are going on the darkest nights. (Especially in unknown terrain.) Then, a gentle, guiding light shone at their feet, illuminating the path before them. Only then – can any possible dangers be revealed, which may lie ahead. The psalmist in Psalm 119:105 (CSB), (knew this as well and made this statement about the guiding light of the Word of God) …Your Word is a lamp for my feet and a light on my path.
In this verse, He is basically saying, “Lord, when I am walking, and I come to a fork in the road” (so to speak). With all the wisdom I have… I don’t know which way to go or what to do, but alas, I know You do!
So, I go to Your Word, and I will find the answer to my situation. Then I will be refreshed! I will regain my sense of direction again! Especially as I continue my walk with Your Word shining the light on my path, leading and guiding me in the direction I should go.
Oh, my friends, how precious it is to find a verse pertaining to our problems! It doesn’t even need to be the same problem we are having. For the Word of God is always giving us life; look at it, and if something is listed in the Word of God, even remotely close to the same situation we are facing. Then, the Holy Spirit can illuminate the truth in the scripture, and we can correctly apply it in our situation.
Heb 4:12 (MKJV) For the Word of God is living and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing apart of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
So, let’s begin by looking at some of the different illustrations where the Word of God can illuminate our path and lead us to the right answers, beginning with salvation.
- Salvation: How can I obtain eternal life? Have I done so many things wrong that there is no hope for me to find salvation through Jesus Christ? Have I passed the point of no return?
First, let’s examine what Jesus Himself said in the following scriptures. He says you don’t have to be perfect or have always been doing everything right in order to be saved. Instead, you must simply believe in your heart that He is the Son of God and confess this with your mouth, and you will be saved.
Look at this scripture setting now… (Jesus speaking) … John 3:16-18 (MKJV)… For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
(Notice: He didn’t say if you always do everything right. Or if you have always had the right intentions as a prerequisite qualification for salvation. Then and only then will He give you everlasting life/ salvation. No! Instead, what He said is if you accept and believe in Him as the Son of God, who paid the price for you, then you will be saved. Obviously, believing in Him as the Son of God means you believe in who He said He was and what He did.) Let’s continue…
John 3:17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him.
John 3:18 He who believes on Him is not condemned, but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only-begotten Son of God.
Wow! Jesus left no doubt about who He said He was or what He would do.
So, let’s look at this scripture setting to see how to believe and be saved.
Rom 10:9-10 (MKJV)… Because if you confess the Lord Jesus (as Lord and Savior), and believe in your heart (down on the inside) that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.
Rom 10:10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth one confesses unto salvation.
You can be the toughest rascal around. But when you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, He can give you a heart of flesh instead of having one that seems to be made of stone.
Ezk 11:19-20 (MKJV)And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. And I will remove the stony heart (a hardened heart) out of their flesh, and will give them a heart of flesh (one that is made new and pliable enough to be used by God),
Ezk 11:20 so that they may walk in My statutes and keep My ordinances, and do them. And they shall be My people, and I will be their God.
Oh wow! Praise the Lord, my friends! Look at what happens on the inside of us once we have said “Yes” to Jesus.
2Co 5:17 (CSB) Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!
A Brand-New Creation! My brothers and sisters in the Lord. When you accept Jesus! Not only does He accept you, but He gives you a brand-new spirit on the inside. One which is alive to Him and is created with the “Eternal Life Seal of God.” proving to Whom you belong. It’s like a brand that ranchers give to their cattle. When someone sees the “Brand” there is no mistaking to whom they belong.
You are now sealed and marked forevermore through the redeeming power of His shed blood.
Look at these two verses…Eph 1:13-14 (KJV) In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
Eph 1:14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
[My friends, this subject has so much hope and revelation. To cover it properly, we have to continue in the next post. Please look for and go to “Part 2” to continue this study. (Click here) } Be blessed in everything you do! 🙂
