Do you remember the parable, Jesus told about the woman who lost one of her ten coins?
Luke 15:8-10 (KJV) Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it?
Luk 15:9 And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost.
Luk 15:10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.
The “Woman” in this parable refers to the Holy Spirit. As babies and children our spirits are alive unto God. However, once we reach the age of being accountable for our actions and we chose wrong, our spirit is no longer alive to God. It suffers spiritual death or separation from God. So then, we find ourselves in a state where the Bible says, we need to be “Born-again”.
The “Coin” refers to us, who were lost, before we had accepted Jesus Christ, as Lord and Saviour.
“Silver” in the Bible refers to redemption.
So the beauty of this parable shows that from the time we are separated from God, until we say “Yes” to Him, The Holy Spirit (pictured as a woman here) searches and searches the places in our hearts and minds, until we are found. Then in His excitment, He throws a party which is worthy of angelic celebration, as we have been returned to the Fathers collection (so to speak) through the acceptance of His Son.
Oh praise the Lord, for He is worthy of our praise! His love and tender mercies are new every morning.
