Setting the Course of your Life!

I was raised in a Christian home where my mom was the spiritual giant. My dad got saved because of my moms prayers and witness towards him. I loved being taught about the things of the Lord. Often I would study the Bible on my own, just trying to learn more about our awesome Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Sure, there were things I didn’t know or understand when I read my Bible. But there were lots of things that I did. From these I gained knowledge with the Lord’s help, the Holy Spirit’s teaching. Along with good godly people that I came in contact with, (church or otherwise) who helped me along the way. As a result of my searching, I started gaining more understanding and knowledge in the Word.

As young adults, my wife and I attended a non-denominational Bible college. Where our learning skyrocketed compared to the years of study previously.

But have I arrived? Do I know everything there is to know in the Word of God, at this point in my life?

Absolutely not! My friends, we could not exhaust the wisdom and knowledge in God’s Word during several of our lifetimes. The Bible is not only the Word of God to us. But every book, every chapter, every page, every verse, and every single word contains life!

Hebrews 4:12 KJV
For the word of God is quick
(Pregnant – full of life), and powerful (forever producing), and sharper than any two-edged sword (2-edges, dividing what was normally meant to be as one, either in nature or function), piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit (the 2 eternal parts of a human being), and of the joints and marrow (2 of the deepest parts of our sustaining physical nature. The ability to move and live), and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart (2 places from where everything we do comes from. Beginning as a thought and then as our intentions corresponding to that thought).

My friends, I challenge you this year to find a good Bible based church, if you are not already in one. Study the Word of God and let its truths penetrate your heart and mind. Allow God to lead you and guide you. Please note; when He does it will always be in line with His Word. If it doesn’t line up with the Word (without taking things out of context), then what you have heard was not from God.

1 John 4:1-4 NKJV
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. [2] By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ
(the Son of God) has come in the flesh is of God, [3] and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world. [4] You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

If you want to change or set the course of your life for better. Then follow the things we have mentioned here, simply to start with. You don’t have to be perfect for God to speak to you. You just have to be willing to ask, pray, and listen. He will always meet you right where you are. He will direct your path. What an awesome God we serve. 🙂

Larry Atkerson Ministries
Larry Atkerson Sr. was born-again at a young age. He grew up in rural southeastern Oklahoma, then in high school, his family moved to Tulsa, Ok. During this time he met the young lady who would become his wife, Lisa. They got married when they were still in their teen years. Obviously, getting married at this age created some very interesting times as they both grew up and matured together. However, they have stayed true to their vows, to each other, and have basically grown up with their 3 wonderful children. Larry Atkerson Sr. and Lisa Atkerson both have received training in ministry at "Rhema Bible Training Center" and "School of the Local Church"/"Grace School of Ministry" in Broken Arrow, and Tulsa, Ok. respectively. While attending "School of the Local Church", he received his first taste of the original languages of the Bible, in a course called "Beginning Biblical Greek". Since that time he has also received training in "Biblical Hebrew", with a university based in Israel. "eTeacher". Larry Atkerson Sr. has worked/volunteered in just about every position a church or ministry can have. In doing so, he has filled many different roles ranging from door-greeter to Sunday-School teacher, and children’s church worker to counselor. He has also served in the pastoral positions of children’s, youth, and adult ministries. He has worked and been involved in hospital/visitation ministries where he has seen the power of God change people’s lives. He delights in going on short-term mission trips! All the while, seeing the love of God with applied wisdom - transform people and their lives forever. Larry Atkerson Sr. teaches a weekly bible study class starting just after spring break each year and continuing until right before Thanksgiving. In the class, he delves into the wonderful-exciting-mysteries and simplicity of the Word of God.
