The birth of the Promised One, was never a secret. The moment man needed a Savior, (after the Fall in the garden, with corresponding sin entering into the world). The message of the Promised One, the Messiah was prophesied. He would come to redeem mankind back to God.
Creation and the recreation stories took place in Genesis 1 & 2.
The “Fall of mankind“, the “entrance of sin“, and the “judgment for the sin” happened in Genesis 3:1-24, (the whole chapter). But right smack-dab in the middle of the chapter’s story, (verse 15). God promises a “Redeemer” who would come to save them. He says it will cost the Redeemer a “Bruised heel“. But the enemy, Satan, who worked through the serpent, would receive a “Bruised head“.
**I think everyone knows, in the grand scheme of things, a head injury is worse, than a heel injury.**
The Redeemer, His arrival, and everything concerning His payment for mankind’s wrongs were foretold, all the way through the OT, [Old Testament].
Now, when we get to Luke’s gospel in the NT, [New Testament] and we see the promise come to pass and the beauty of the Messiah’s birth.
Luke 2:7-14 (MKJV) And she brought forth her son, the First-born, and wrapped Him, and laid Him in a manger— because there was no room for them in the inn. (This was actually an “Inn” from His families heritage. So the master/ the messiah had no place, in His own families house.)
Luk 2:8 And in the same country there were shepherds living in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. (Shepherds were looked at as some of the lowliest professional’s of the day. Isn’t it great that God basically says, “I don’t care what your status in life is. I will always meet you right where you are?)
Luk 2:9 And lo, the angel of the Lord came on them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them. And they were grievously afraid.
Luk 2:10 And the angel said to them, Do not fear. For behold, I give to you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
Luk 2:11 For to you is born today, in the city of David, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. (The Promised One from Genesis 3:15.)
Luk 2:12 And this is a sign to you. You will find the babe wrapped, lying in a manger.
Luk 2:13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God and saying,
Luk 2:14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. (If the heavens opened up and a multitude of angels started singing about His birth? Then surely, we should give Him praise, as well today! For not only was He given to us, but He also paid the ultimate price for our salvation by His death, burial, and resurrection from the dead.
Oh, hallelujah!. Our God reigns and is alive forevermore!)
