Proper light and lighting can make such a difference!
I recently was at two different places, with two different nieces, on two different occasions, two days apart. (Wow! That’s a lot of two’s!) 🙂 Now let me address what some of you maybe thinking, (after looking at this first picture). Some of you maybe saying…”He must have sold his soul to the dark-side, that being the devil.”
OK! Please let me dispel that thought process, right now. “No“! I did not sell my soul to the dark-side. 🙂
However, looking at the difference in the two pictures prompted me to do this short study. Simply because the lighting hits me in the top of the head, leaving my face darkened and it makes the picture a little sinister looking.
Now, as we open the Word of God, we see the words, “Darkness” and “Light” being mentioned over 400 times. Obviously, there is a stark contrast shown between the two of them. With more emphasis being put on “Light“. As the word “Light” is mentioned 110 times more, than “Darkness“.
With good reason! Jesus said, “He was the Light of the world!” Look at John 8:12 (MKJV) Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
There is a saying, which bears a lot of truth. It was made famous by a couple of well-known people from the past, (William Shakespeare and Leonardo Da Vinci). It says, “The eyes are the window to/of the soul”.
But really, this sayings essence originates in the Bible. In Matthew’s gospel it is recorded of Jesus, saying this.
Mat 6:22-23 (ISV) “The eye is the lamp of the body. So if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light.
Mat 6:23 But if your eye is evil, your whole body will be full of darkness. Therefore, if the light within you has turned into darkness, how great is that darkness!”
Another great example from the Word, which really paints this contrast picture of “Light and Darkness“, (when referring to the soul or state of a person), is found in 1st John, chapter 2.
1 John 2:8-11 (MKJV) Again, I write a new commandment to you, which thing is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away, and the true Light now shines.
1 Jn 2:9 He who says he is in the light and hates his brother is in darkness until now.
1 Jn 2:10 He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no offense in him.
1 Jn 2:11Â But he who hates his brother is in darkness, and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because darkness has blinded his eyes.
My friends, it doesn’t take long to see who is in the “Light” versus who is in the “Darkness“. All you have to do is hang around them for a little bit. Then you will surely see who is in the truth and walks in godly love. As this perception happens by observing their mannerism’s, listening to their speech and beliefs, and looking into their “Lighted” or “Darkened” eyes.
Wow! We really just covered a lot, in a short amount of time.
Now if you would, Let’s pray this together for us and our families. So, we can always discern the “Light from the Darkness“. …
Father God, in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, I pray for everyone reading or listening to this post. I pray that Your love, mercy, and grace is or will be poured out upon them. That the truth of Your Word will guide them with understanding and by Your steadfast love, they will live, move, and have their being firmly grounded in You.
I thank You Jesus, by Your stripes they are healed and whole, blessed and protected. With their acceptance of You as Lord and Savior, Your blood covers and cleanses them and makes them white as snow. Their name is written up in heaven, in the “Lamb’s Book of Life” and it cannot be erased. Because Your one-time sacrificial giving of yourself on the cross was enough to eternally save us, (John 3:16, Romans 10:9-10). In Your precious name we pray, In Jesus name, Amen and Amen!
Thank You Lord for Your Word being a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path, Psalm 119:105.
