The Name of The LORD is a Strong Tower…(Part 1).

Pro 18:10 (KJV) The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

[Continuing thought from the previous post, with more insights.]

We saw the psalmist David in Psa 18:2-3. Give 8 different names or titles to the Lord God. The last one he mentioned in that passage was the Lord being his High Tower!

Now in the book of Proverbs, we see the wisest man in the world, Solomon (David’s son). Speak the same thing about The Lord. Except he narrows in with more clarity on his thought.

David expressed his faith and confidence in the Lord God wholly. Whereas, Solomon expressed a secret to all the children of God, who call upon the “NAME” of The Lord. He says “The name of the LORD is a strong tower:

Oh hallelujah! I’m going to have to take a praise break here myself! Just thinking about our Lord God and the power invested in His “NAME” makes me excited!

First off, let’s shoot forward to after Jesus’ resurrection from the dead. During His discourse of the “The Great Commission” to the disciples. Jesus said this in Mark’s account of the Gospel. Mark 16:15-18 (KJV) And he (Jesus) said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Mar 16:16  He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Mar 16:17  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

Mar 16:18  They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Oh, praise the Lord, for the power and authority He has given us “In His Name”!

Also, “Salvation” is only available through belief and confession of Jesus Christ, by confessing His Name. Php 2:9-11 (KJV) Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him (Jesus), and given him a name which is above every name:

Php 2:10  That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

Php 2:11  And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

But now back to King Solomon, what was it that he knew about the “Name of the Lord”, which we may be missing?

Well, those of us who are now on this side of the “Cross” after His death, burial, and resurrection from the dead. Only need to look back at what King Solomon saw, by the wisdom God gave to him. In simplistic terms, by looking no further than just the spelling of the “Name” of the Lord, in his native tongue, Hebrew.

In Hebrew, the Name of the Lord is spelled, יהוה

Oh, my friends, this is going to be good. Look forward to our next post for it. (Otherwise, this one is going to be considerably longer than normal). 🙂

Please note; that we love all of you and we can hardly wait to make the next post. Be blessed in all you do! 🙂
