Today, people rush around at break-neck speed trying to finish their tasks.
For example, look at the busy commute each day. People hurriedly going from one place to another.
It’s like a frantic race to get everywhere and everything done.
Sometimes it seems like no one has time to help others. However, if and when a local crisis arrives, we thankfully tend to slow down to assist those in need around us.
So, if this is what we observe daily in our lives. Then how in the world, do we think that Jesus, the Creator of the universe, would take the time to stop and help you or me? It seems unlikely. Additionally, if anyone has a lot going on, it’s surely Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world.
To top it off, we find this passage of Scripture in the Bible.
Isa 55:8-9 CSB: ‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not my ways.’ This is the LORD’s declaration.
Isa 55:9, ‘Heaven is higher than earth, so my ways are higher than yours, and my thoughts than yours.’
If this scripture is true, and it is, how can we even begin to think we know or understand the Heart of God?
The Father’s Heart revealed
Well, I’m so glad you asked!
In His Holy Word, the Bible, Jesus allows us to see His Father’s heart.
He reveals His thoughts concerning us.
Take a look at this scripture spoken to the children of Israel.
They were in Babylon’s captivity at the time.
Jer 29:11 CSB states: ‘For I know the plans I have for you” — this is the LORD’s declaration — “plans for your well-being, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
My friends, if anyone needs a Word from the Lord, I cannot imagine a greater time than during captivity.
Yet, God tells the children of Israel through His Prophet Jeremiah that He has plans for them and their future.
As a result, Jesus brings hope even in captivity.
This is recorded in the Word of God, not only as a witness to the heart of God Almighty towards #Israel. But also, to strengthen us when we’re down. When we feel like things can’t get any worse. When our world seems to be turned upside-down and everything is seemingly going against us. We can find solace, peace, and comfort in the Words spoken to Israel during Jeremiah’s time.
Not a Respecter of Persons
God is “No respecter of Persons”, Rom 2:11 CSB; For there is no favoritism with God. My friends, if He put it in His Word. It’s there for us too. Obviously, it is through proper “Interpretation” that we understand the scripture in Jeremiah, and the promises there was given to Israel. But now through “Application”, we understand it is also available to all of us.
Oh Hallelujah! God’s heart desire is to see you prosper and be in health, as you look to Him as the true source of success in life. Not only did Jesus Christ pay for our sins on the cross, but He has also provided all things for us through Him in the process. Look at this statement, which the apostle John prayed over one of his friends in the Lord and faith. 3Jn 1:2 ESV; Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.
We already noted, “God is no respecter of persons.” So, if this is a prayer that was prayed over one of the believers in the early church. Then it is also a prayer we can pray over ourselves today.
Jesus will Stop for You
Let’s go backwards for a moment and look at the statement of our title for this post. The Lord Jesus Christ will stop what He is doing, if need be, just for you. When you call out to Him, He is ready to answer your prayers. He is ready to meet you where you are at. He didn’t say, be perfect first and then you have my attention. No, He shows us over and over again that He will meet us where we are. Then Jesus gives us grace, His unmerited favor, to move closer to Him and more in line with His Word and His will for our lives.
In part 2 of this post, we will investigate a story in the Bible. Where Jesus literally stopped what He was doing, even though He was on His way to pray for a little girl who was at the point of death. He did this just to pay attention to a lady who tried to come in secret to receive from Him. But Jesus revealed what had happened.
See you in the next post! Be blessed in everything you do! 🙂
