God is Doing Something New!
My friends, this is Part 2 in our series. If you haven’t read “Part 1” yet, you can follow this link to do so and then come back here to be blessed for the second part.
We left off with the scripture setting from 2Co 5:17-21 (CSB). Verse 17 says, Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!
Wow! No sweeter words have been spoken to a hard, dry, thirsty soul than to find out that God has NOT cast you out from His presence. He loves you, and He still has a plan for your life—a plan that encourages you, cleanses you, and even changes you from the inside out.
In verse 17, we can clearly see God’s precious promise to anyone who says “Yes” to His Son, Jesus Christ. “Yes, Jesus, I will follow You! “Yes, I accept You as God’s Son, and I believe You came to this earth. You were born of a virgin (by the Spirit, because Your Father is the Almighty God in heaven) and that You lived a sinless life. So, You could take my place on the cross and take my sin and shame on Yourself.
Thereby, giving me the opportunity to say, “I accept You, Lord! Because what You have done is MORE than enough for me!” You took away my heart of stone. The one that led me astray and created in me a clean heart, a heart of flesh, one that is pliable and can be shaped by You.
This was promised to the Children of Israel in the OT (Old Testament), and now it is even more promised to everyone everywhere in the New Testament (NT).
Here is the promise in the OT (listed twice) …Ezk 11:19 I will give them integrity of heart and put a new spirit within them; I will remove their heart of stone from their bodies and give them a heart of flesh,
Also, Ezk 36:26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.
Now, fast-forward to the NT,and God is NOT just speaking to the Children of Israel in this passage. He is not just speaking to them about the promise of bringing them home, back to the Land of Israel, (which He has done and is continuing to do!) Oh, Hallelujah! But He is creating a new heart in them, as well.
So, we can see in 2 Corinthians 5:17, His promise of creating a new, clean heart goes even further. Now it’s to ALL who say, “Yes” to Him. As a result, He says, “I will create a brand-new spirit on the inside of each and every one of you who confesses, My Son, Jesus as Savior!
My friends, this is hallelujah territory! For when we believe on Jesus Christ, as Lord and Savior. When we confess the sacrifice, He made for us on the cross of Calvary, and understand it is more than enough! When we believe that He is God’s only Begotten Son, and He paid the ultimate price for us, by not only dying for us on the cross. But also, being resurrected from the dead on the third day!
When we believe and confess this, we can see Him for who He really is—the conquering King!
He is the One who takes all of my sins and casts them as far from me as the east is from the west. He washes me as white as snow and cleanses me from every wrongdoing. He is the healer of all my diseases! The stripes He took on His back were more than enough for my health and healing. Jesus Christ is my Lord, my Savior, and my best friend!
His grace, love, and mercy surround me like a shield and encompass my home and my family. In Him, I move and have my being. Without Him lots of things in my life are impossible! But with Him, all things are possible!
He is the One who sticks closer than a brother or sister. Even when I fall, He doesn’t leave me or forsake me. Instead, He reaches out His Righteous, right-hand and saves me.
My friends, not only is God doing something new, but He has done something new! He loves us, picks us up from where we once were without Him, and sets us on a new path. He gives us a new direction to go, which aligns us with His Word and His will for our lives.
Please understand this! God has a direction for our lives and it is always meant to turn the bad things that we face into good. Here is how it is stated in the Book of Jeremiah.
Jer 29:11 (CSB) For I know the plans I have for you” — this is the LORD’s declaration — “plans for your well-being, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
Oh, hallelujah! He only wants the best for us, and He is willing to do something new in our lives when necessary to accomplish the blessings He has in store for us. 🙂
