No Greater Love!

The greatest love story of all time was displayed for all to see a little over 2,000 years ago.

But just prior to its display, Jesus was walking with His disciples and spoke this statement. John 15:13 (MKJV) No one has greater love than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Well, if you think about it, Jesus was right. The greatest act of kindness, or demonstration of self-sacrificial love that anyone can display. That is, towards someone else, is the act of saying, “No let me die in their place.” Then obviously, following it up with the same promised act of love.

However, when it came to Jesus, He took it a step further! Not only did He die for His friends, His family, His disciples, but He also died for those who were His enemies.

Wow! To die for someone so they can live, even when they have made it clear that they hate you. Is a preposterous thought process for all of us. It would, no doubt, be the Greatest act of Love ever demonstrated and my friends, Jesus did it for you and me.

It was also the will of God the Father as seen in John’s gospel.

John 3:16 (KJV) For God (the Father)so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

This act of love was done for all of mankind. Those who love and those who hate; the ones who are tall and the ones who are short; skinny, large, young, old, wealthy and poor. No matter from what walk of life you have come from, His sacrifice was enough to bring the believing ones – eternal life!

Thank You Lord Jesus for loving us, even when we weren’t in love with You. Because of Your love for us, we can now love others and show them how much You loved us all.
