A Present Help in Time of Trouble

Psa 46:1 (MKJV) God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

This verse was penned as the beginning of a psalm/song. Which was written in response to the presence and miraculous show of strength by Almighty God. After the sons/men of Korah came against God’s leaders in the land at the time, which was Moses and Aaron.

Those men of Korah were swallowed up by an earthquake. It was a sign that God was with Moses and Aaron, as the leaders of the children of Israel.

God was very precise in the earthquake and even though others were around. Only those who withstood Moses and Aaron were swallowed up. (Numbers 16:28-35)

My friends, can you picture that scene? The very men who looked like they would have the victory. Those who came in to overthrow the existing Godly leadership for the Israelites. Were in fact, the ones who got destroyed.

Lord Jesus, thank You for taking care of Your people today and for giving them victory in every area of their life, and in every circumstance, which they may be facing. In Your precious name we pray, Jesus, Amen, and Amen!

God Is Our Fortress

Here is the whole beautiful and precious psalm, from the CEV (Contemporary English Version), Psalm 46:1-11 (CEV)… (A special song for the people of Korah and for the music leader.) God is our mighty fortress, always ready to help in times of trouble.

Psa 46:2  And so, we won’t be afraid! Let the earth tremble and the mountains tumble into the deepest sea.

Psa 46:3  Let the ocean roar and foam, and its raging waves shake the mountains.

Psa 46:4  A river and its streams bring joy to the city, which is the sacred home of God Most High.

Psa 46:5  God is in that city, and it won’t be shaken. He will help it at dawn.

Psa 46:6  Nations rage! Kingdoms fall! But at the voice of God the earth itself melts.

Psa 46:7  The LORD All-Powerful is with us. The God of Jacob is our fortress.

Psa 46:8  Come! See the fearsome things the LORD has done on earth.

Psa 46:9  God brings wars to an end all over the world. He breaks the arrows, shatters the spears, and burns the shields.

Psa 46:10  Our God says, “Calm down, and learn that I am God! All nations on earth will honor me.”

Psa 46:11  The LORD All-Powerful is with us. The God of Jacob is our fortress.

My friends, we can always stand on the Word of God and His promises. It can and will change the very direction we are headed in. When we speak in line with the Word of God, it is powerful! When we pray the Word of God and stand on it, things change, mountains move, and battles are won. Oh hallelujah!

Success! You're on the list.

Since that time he has also received training in "Biblical Hebrew", with a university based in Israel. "eTeacher". Larry Atkerson Sr. has worked/volunteered in just about every position a church or ministry can have. In doing so, he has filled many different roles ranging from door-greeter to Sunday-School teacher, and children’s church worker to counselor. He has also served in the pastoral positions of children’s, youth, and adult ministries. He has worked and been involved in hospital/visitation ministries where he has seen the power of God change people’s lives. He delights in going on short-term mission trips! All the while, seeing the love of God with applied wisdom - transform people and their lives forever. Larry Atkerson Sr. teaches a weekly bible study class starting just after spring break each year and continuing until right before Thanksgiving.
