Overcoming Temptations! Part 2

When it comes to “Temptations” not even how you preformed today, stands a chance to catch God by surprise! Since, He knows our beginning from our ending, He already has knowledge of how we are going to respond in each and every situation. This does not mean we just say, “Que‘ Sera’, Sera’,”/”Whatever will be, will be!”

For “Temptations” come in many different sizes, shapes, and indulgences. To overcome a “Temptation” properly; we must rely on the strength from our Heavenly Father, power and direction from the Holy Spirit, and the “Unmerited Favor/Grace” from the Son of God, Jesus, the Word.

Some of the indulgences or “Temptations” we face are a direct result of our own doing. As an example, if the doctor told you not to eat something because it would be harmful to your health. But you went ahead and put yourself into a position, where you found yourself face to face with the very thing the doctor said to not do. Then you cannot blame someone else for that “Temptation”.

Perhaps, your justification to go to the bakery was just to smell the food, (if certain foods were the issue. 🙂 )

However, now that you have placed yourself in this situation, you now have a decision to make. But if you pass or fail the test, you must realize that your being tempted in the first place, was a direct result of your own actions.

Sure, it was innocent enough in the beginning. For in this scenario, we already know how you justified your actions. You told yourself that you were only there to smell the amazing aroma coming from the bakery. But now that you have allowed your actions to be put into play. You will win or lose because there was a thought in the beginning of this situation that you did not take control over. Instead, you acted upon it. 🙁 🙂

But there is great news! My friends, it doesn’t matter if it’s this “Temptation” or any other one, we face in life. Because our Heavenly Father, has already given us a way out and a way to win in every single one of them. When we study the Word of God, the Bible, we already know it is packed full of His wisdom. It was given to us by God Himself speaking through the writers as they penned the words, by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

Because of this, the Word of God is alive with life-producing, over-coming power and wisdom. So, we may boldly come before the throne of God and receive mercy in His Grace.

Heb 4:12 (CSB) For the word of God is living and effective and sharper than any double-edged sword, penetrating as far as the separation of soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Heb 4:13  No creature is hidden from him, but all things are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give an account.

Jesus the Great High Priest!

Heb 4:14  Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens — Jesus the Son of God — let us hold fast to our confession.

Heb 4:15  For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way as we are, yet without sin.

Heb 4:16  Therefore, let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in time of need.

Oh, hallelujah! My friends, this is a praise the Lord moment! We thank You Lord for Your abundant “Grace and Mercy!” Thank you that we are over-comers in every area of our life. Even when we mess up, You are right there to help us to get back up on our feet and continue walking with You.

In our next lesson on this subject. We will continue along these lines, but we will also see what the Bible says concerning, “How to control our thoughts.” My friends, are you ready to win in every situation you face? Awesome we will pick up here next week. 🙂
