Is Christ The ONE or should we look for another? This is a question that has been asked by people from all walks of life, over and over again. It has been answered to the “T”, with clarity throughout the Bible, from the prophets prophesying, to the prophecies themselves being fulfilled in the person of Jesus Christ.
His birth, life, ministry, death, burial, and resurrection from the dead have been all elucidated through the prophets and their writings. So, as we look at a few of these examples we will answer the question… “Is Christ (Jesus) the ONE sent from God to save the people of the world, or should we look for another?”
According to the research done by the authors of “Believing Our Beliefs:”* There is a staggering and otherwise unexplainable miracle concerning the Bible’s accuracy. Which cannot even be fathomed outside of the authorship of an eternal God being behind the writers who wrote the books of the Bible.
“Take one instance alone. There are 333 prophecies concerning Christ which have been fulfilled to the letter. By the law of probability, there is only one chance in eighty-three BILLION that 333 prophecies could be fulfilled in one person.
[With man this is impossible but with God all things are possible, Luke 18:27] How do we account for the accuracy and dependability of the Old Testament prophecies concerning Christ? The answer is the Holy Spirit (see Acts 1:16).”

We know from our past Bible studies, the Word of God, the Bible, was written by men and women who wrote using their own personalities, but penned every word by the inspiration of the Spirit of God, 2 Timothy 3:16.
The different authors of the 66 books of the Bible wrote their works over a span of about 4,000 years. Their occupations were vastly different. Yet, not a single word written contradicts anyone else’s. The ONLY way this could have happened was by the inspiration or breath of Holy Spirit of God. He over saw what was written to make sure it would stand the test of time as the Word of our Holy God. 🙂
Now looking at just a small handful of scripture references foretelling His birth and when it was fulfilled.
**Micah 5:2 Bethlehem Ephrathah, you are small among the clans of Judah; one will come from you to be ruler over Israel for me. His origin is from antiquity, from ancient times.
John’s gospel confirms that Jesus/Immanuel/ The Word was from antiquity.
John 1:1-5, 9-14 (CSB) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Jhn 1:2 He was with God in the beginning. Jhn 1:3 All things were created through him, and apart from him not one thing was created that has been created. Jhn 1:4 In him was life, and that life was the light of men. Jhn 1:5 That light shines in the darkness, and yet the darkness did not overcome it. …
Jhn 1:9 The true light (Jesus Christ) that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. Jhn 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was created through him, and yet the world did not recognize him. Jhn 1:11 He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. Jhn 1:12 But to all who did receive him, he gave them the right to be children of God, to those who believe in his name,
Jhn 1:13 who were born, not of natural descent, or of the will of the flesh, or of the will of man, but of God. Jhn 1:14 The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. We observed his glory, the glory as the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
We witnessed the prophecy from Micah, being fulfilled in Luke’s gospel… **Luke 2:4 Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family line of David,

The prophecy from Micah, the prophet, was given 700 years before Jesus was born. Wow! What accuracy by the Holy Spirit! He knew exactly where the Messiah would be born.
Without the Holy Spirit speaking this wisdom of God through the prophet, what were the odds of this being correct?
Let’s face it, my parents – moved multiple times while I was growing up. This resulted in my 5 immediate siblings, all being born either in different places, cities, and/or states.
So, to accurately pick where someone would be born 700 years later. Meticulously, shows us the knowledge and wisdom of an eternal God. Who outside of time, looked down through the corridors of time and prophesied by one of His servants, a prophet, that this is where His birth would happen.
My friends, God has used this same thought process to get His Word to us today. He knew you would read or listen to this post/blog/message and at this exact time, He would be able to show Himself to you as God Almighty. The One who gave it all, His very own Son, so that you and I would have the opportunity to say “Yes” to Him and His blessed plan for our lives.
Jer 29:11 (CSB) For I know the plans I have for you” — this is the LORD’s declaration — “plans for your well-being, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
Oh Hallelujah! That’s a big praise the Lord! Thank You Jesus for everything you have done and everything You are already doing in our lives.
Now getting back to the prophecies…
***Isaiah 7:14 Therefore, the Lord himself will give you a sign: See, the #virgin will conceive, have a son, and name him #Immanuel.
We see the fulfillment of this prophecy in Matthew’s gospel…
***Matthew 1:18-25 (CSB) The birth of Jesus Christ came about this way: After his mother Mary had been engaged to Joseph, it was discovered before they came together that she was pregnant from the Holy Spirit. 19 So her husband, Joseph, being a righteous man, and not wanting to disgrace her publicly, decided to divorce her secretly.
20 But after he had considered these things, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, don’t be afraid to take Mary as your wife, because what has been conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to name him Jesus (which means “Savior of mankind”), because he will save his people from their sins.” 22 Now all this took place to fulfill what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet:
23 See, the virgin will become pregnant
and give birth to a son,
and they will name him Immanuel,
which is translated “God is with us.”
24 When Joseph woke up, he did as the Lord’s angel had commanded him. He married her
25 but did not have sexual relations with her until she gave birth to a son. And he named him Jesus.

The prophet Isaiah lived around the same time as Micah. So, this was also prophesied around 700 years before Jesus was born.
Did you notice though? This prophecy not only foretold the birth of the Son of God. But it also stated that His birth would be through a virgin, which is a whole nother step-up in the miraculous events surrounding the promised messiah.
A virgin who had never known a man. That is, had intercourse with him, would be found to be with child, by the Holy Spirit of God. Praise the Lord, God Almighty, for there is no one like Him!
There are many, many more scriptures foretelling the Messiah’s time on the earth (333 of them) and I will leave you with only a few of them. This way you can look them up a be blessed by them in your own studies.
Gen 22:18, Galatians 4:4, Matt 1:1, Isa 9:6-7, Luke 1:32, 33, Luke 2:13,14,20, 28-32. These are just few so you can study them and see the difference in the Son of Man/Son of God being born. As well as, what happened during His birth, life, ministry, death, burial, and resurrection from the dead, verses any other human beings’ birth and life on the planet. (Did you have angels singing, rejoicing, and appearing to shepherds when you were born? Yeah, I didn’t think so, and neither did I. Lol!) 🙂
Anyway, my friends, we have previously read the story of John the Baptist sending two of his disciples to Jesus and they asked Him this question. Are You the One who was to come or should we look for another?
Look at this scriptural setting from Luke’s gospel. Luke 7:20-22 (CSB) When the men (disciples of John) reached him, they said, “John the Baptist sent us to ask you, ‘Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?’” Luk 7:21 At that time Jesus healed many people of diseases, afflictions, and evil spirits, and he granted sight to many blind people.
Luk 7:22 He replied to them, “Go and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive their sight, the lame walk, those with leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor are told the good news,
Wow! What other good news did one need to hear!
What other proof did they need? Jesus and John both knew the scripture that says, But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; Malachi 4:2a. (With the Lord God, being used metaphorically in this scripture as the “Sun” of righteousness. As well as, “Wings” in the same scripture, when referring to the Lord, speaks of the “Hem” of his garment, (which consist of the tassels on the prayer shawl that the rabbi’s and worshipers wore.)
Oh! You know this is about to be really good! 🙂 We will pick up here in our next post. 🙂
