Oh my goodness, my friends! Depending on where you grew up, how you grew up, and what influences have directed your thoughts up to this point in time. Every single bit of it points to, directly effects, and determines your thought processes, from the moment you hear the phrase, “To Love a Woman Properly“!
(Teaching follows…) Let’s take a very important lesson from the very first man and woman / husband and wife listed in the Bible, which was Adam and Eve. God had already decided He was going to make a help mate for Adam in Genesis 2:18. Previous to that it was only Adam, created in the image of God, as a complete man.
Meanwhile, God gave Adam a job! [Notice God gave Adam a job first! That is, before He gave him a wife.] Doing this allowed Adam an opportunity to learn to be become a caretaker (garden and animals). Before he needed to be a caretaker for someone who was just like him, another human.
This was a very valuable lesson for Adam. No doubt, he noticed as he was giving names to all the animals in Genesis 2:19-20, God had made male and female of every kind of animal. No doubt, he starting looking at the fact that there was two of this kind and two of that kind, but only one of his kind.
Perhaps, he begin to long, to have someone just like himself. Without ever even knowing, the good, precious, and loving Lord God, had already planned on giving him this very special gift. (Please, understand husbands, your wife is a very special gift from Almighty God to you.) Pro 18:22 (KJV) Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.
Remember, the time you first met? How beautiful she was in your eyes? When you said, “I love you”, you meant it from the bottom of your heart. Then you made promises before your family and friends, to love, hold, provide for, and protect her everyday of your life, no matter what?
Well, it was no different when Adam met his wife Eve, for the first time. Fact of the matter is, when he met her… the first hippie/surfer dude was born, (anyway, the sound of one was born, lol!) When he met her, he was beyond any doubt stricken with her beauty, because he said, Wo-Man! Like wipe my eyes and pour cold water on my face, type of reaction, lol! 🙂
Ok, all kidding aside. “Woman” was what he called her, because she was taken from his side. While he was sleeping God performed surgery and removed one of Adam’s ribs and from it He formed/made the woman, Genesis 2:21-23.
God had made this special gift, this special someone who could be there as Adam’s helpmate. He had made someone who could love the man on his level. Someone who was like him and could talk to him and share like passions.
We know from the continuing story in Genesis, which then covered the “Fall of mankind” just how much Adam loved this “Woman“. For when they were being judged and about to be cast out of the #GardenOfEden. Adam, knew what was coming and that they would die and not continue to live like they had always lived before. For the Lord God had told Adam that in the day you eat of the “Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil“, you shalt “Surely die“. (In the original language of the OT, Hebrew…it says “Die” two times. Literally, meaning = in dying, thou shalt die.)
So, two deaths happened upon eating from this “Tree“. First and immediate was a spiritual death, a separation from God! Which then lead to the eventual physical death.
Prior to this, man’s body was designed by God to just keep living and living. But now because of disobedience they could no longer just walk with God in the cool of the evening each and every day. Instead, they now had to offer sacrifices to remove their sins. Thus, pointing to the time when the Messiah would come and offer salvation to all people everywhere. Just by the believed and confessed acceptance of God’s Son, His sacrifice, and the finished work on the cross.
Now, going back to just after the “Fall” we really see Adam’s love, care, and concern for his wife. This is where we can learn a lot from Adam. As we see “How to Love a Woman Properly” coming into play at the end of the pronouncement of judgment.
Adam knew death had entered into the picture of mankind’s existence, because of sin. So, now for the first time we see Adam changing what he called his wife. As soon as he needed to try to protect her, he did so, by the words coming out of his mouth. Gen 3:20 (KJV)Â And Adam called his wife’s name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.
He pronounced “Life” on her because the meaning of the name “Eve” is “Life, living, to make alive“! So then, the moment where he could have put her down. The moment where he might have felt justified in saying, “it is all your fault, Woman“! If you had not done this or that then we would have still been living in “Paradise“! He could have called her mean names like “Death Maker“, “Killer of all who come after you“, “Mother of Death Propagator” or any other phrasal name, which he could have thought of along those lines and possibly felt like he was justified in doing so.
But instead of just blaming her, calling her names that would lead to more hurt in her life, and making her feel like she was worthless. He instead, showed us “How to treat a Woman properly“. No doubt, he wrapped his arms around her, held onto to her, and proclaimed “Life” over her.
My friends, we can learn a lot from Adam, in learning to “Love a Woman properly“. Please know this, Women are responders. If you treat them with unconditional love, they will respond with love in return. But if you treat them badly and call them names, their response to your actions will probably not be to your liking.
Let me leave you with this wisdom and instruction from the NT, book of Ephesians.
Eph 5:25-31 (MKJV)Â Â Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for it, [He gave His life for the church.]
Eph 5:26Â Â that He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the Word, [Wash, your wife in good words which produce life in your relationship.]
Eph 5:27  that He might present it to Himself as the glorious church, without spot or wrinkle or any such things, but that it should be holy and without blemish. [The more she feels loved and cherished, the more she will act like and look like she is loved and cherished.]
Eph 5:28  So men ought to love their wives as their ownbodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. [Love your wife like you love yourself, maybe even a bit better if you have hangups concerning yourself.]
Eph 5:29  For no man ever yet hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, even as the Lord loves the church. [Just like you want to take the best care of your own body! Show her that you love her that much and more.]
Eph 5:30Â Â For we are members of His body, of His flesh, and of His bones. [As a member of your household she is needed and necessary and you should make for sure she knows that.]
Eph 5:31Â Â “For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother and shall be joined to his wife, and the two of them shall be one flesh.”[God formed the institution of marriage to be a blessing! So the man and the woman could be joined together and become “One Flesh”. Each treated as valuable and loved!]
My friends, I pray God richly blesses you and your home!
