As Children of the Most High God! We know we are living in a time when things are starting to wrap-up. But as they point towards the end of time, We look up for our redemption draws near.
In the meantime, we don’t cower down in fear, like the enemy wants us to. No! Instead, We stand up and declare “Victory in the name of Jesus”! We raise our hands in praise to our God who is El Shaddai, the All-sufficient One! He is mighty to save! He is ready to heal!
He is our provision! He is our Provider! He is our Protector! He is our Lord and King! He is the One Who directs our steps! No matter what is going on, He is our PRESENT Help! He will never leave us or forsake us!
The Psalmist put it like this in Psalm 23:4-6 (KJV)…
Psa 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Psa 23:5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Psa 23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
Notice, verse 4 says, “When I WALK through the valley of the shadow of death”! He didn’t say when “I RUN through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil”.
That’s obviously, our first instinct and our prayer sometimes. “Oh! God, please just get me through this valley, which has the presence of death”! (Believe me, when we state things like this… there’s no doubt, we are already sprinting, just as fast as our little-legs can carry us.) 🙂
However, when we are operating in this fashion. We are surely staring at the valley and its contents. Instead of, focusing on “Who” is right there with us, as we walk through the valley.
Do you see the posture of the psalmist in the rest of the verse? He says, “I will fear NO evil: for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff comfort me.”
Oh! Praise the Lord! Just knowing this allows us, to let our heartbeat return to normal again. Our blood-pressure can now fall back into the appropriate range! As we are now slowing down to a casual walk, in the valley. Not because the valley or the scary things in it have changed, yet. 🙂 But because our focus is on Who is with us, as we are going through these tough and scary times.
Verse 5 basically says, “Even in the face of my enemies, Lord, You have prepared a table for me and I will sit down and eat,” (This can only be accomplished with the “Peace which passes ALL understanding” surrounding our very being). “Your anointing oil pours over me until it splashes out!” (Thank You, Lord Jesus for revival! It’s in the splashing over of Your anointing oil! )
Now look at who is following you and me, (you know, the ones who have our 6 or our backside). It’s the more than capable guards called, “Goodness” and “Mercy” and they follow us everywhere we go! No wonder it is now our hearts desire to be in the presence of our Savior and in His house forever!
Thank You, Lord for helping us to slow down and keep our confidence in You! 2Cor 10:4 (KJV) (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God [through You, Lord Jesus] to the pulling down of strong holds;)
