Jesus Cleanses a Leper
Mat 8:1-3 (MKJV) When He had come down from the mountain, great crowds followed him.
Mat 8:2 And behold, a leper came and worshiped him, saying, Lord, if You will, You can make me clean.
Mat 8:3 And Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, I will; be clean! And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
No doubt, this leper hid and listened to the words of Jesus being spoken on the mount. Obviously, out of sight by the crowds and perhaps on the other side of the mountain from where Jesus was ministering. (He was not supposed to be around the crowds without exclaiming, “Unclean, unclean!)
However, upon hearing Jesus the Christ, minister in person. After being told of all the things, which Christ had previously done. He knew Jesus could heal him. His faith in that was unwavering!
But as we notice, the one thing the leper had a question about, is if, Jesus was willing to heal HIM?
All the things which probably ran through this man’s mind, as he waited to see Jesus…
How will I feel when the Messiah, the Healer, sees me face to face?
Will He look at me and think, this man is not worth my time? Or will He have compassion on me?
Will He look at me and say, the disease you have is a symbol of sin and people need to be reminded that sin has a price? Or will He be the opposite of the religious leaders of the day, who passed judgment first, instead of showing mercy?
One thing is for sure, no matter how big or small his thoughts were. He conquered them and faced his fears when he heard Jesus was coming in his direction! The BibIe says, the leper came forward and begin to worship the Lord, saying, Lord, if You will, You can make me clean.
Then just like our precious Lord and Savior always does, He went the extra mile to meet this man’s need. He reached out and touched him!
Jesus, You just did what?
Don’t you know if anyone touches a leper then they become unclean, as well?
But not so in this case, the unclean became “Clean” when Jesus, the only begotten Son of God, touched him.
Oh, this man had probably not experienced a human’s touch, since his diagnosis of having leprosy, quite some time ago.
Did he also have a wife and children, which he had been torn apart from and not seen for a while? If so, he had probably cried himself to sleep at times, just thinking about not being able to be with them.
But now as he was facing the Master (before Jesus even answered him) He reached out His hand and touched the leper. Then He spoke these words, “I will; be clean!”
Immediately, it was made known that this man had been healed of leprosy, (verse 3)!
Now in verse 4, Jesus says this… and Jesus said to him, See that you tell no one; but go, show yourself to the priest. And offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.
Oh, praise the Lord, my friends! Jesus just did the impossible!
But guess what? He is the God Who NEVER changes! What He did in the past, He is still doing today, and He will be doing it again in the future! The Bible says in, Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday and today and forever.
So no matter how small or big our problems seem to be. The Miracle worker is still performing miracles today!
Thank You Jesus for You are the God Who is Willing to do all that we can ask or think! We worship You right now for the blessings and miracles in our lives today. As well as the ones You are already performing for us in the near future, in Your mighty precious name, Jesus, Amen, and Amen!
