The birth of the “Promised One”, was never kept a secret. The moment man needed a Savior, (after the Fall in the garden, when sin – correspondingly entered into the world). The message of the “Promised Messiah” was proclaimed through prophecy . He would come to redeem mankind back to God.
The Creation/Recreation stories took place in Genesis 1 & 2.
The “Fall of mankind“, the “entrance of sin“, and the “judgment for the sin” happened in Genesis 3:1-24. But right in the middle of the chapter’s story, (verse 15). God promises a “Redeemer!” He says it will cost the Redeemer a wound, listed as a “Bruised heel”. But the enemy, Satan, who worked through the serpent, would also receive a wound, a “Bruised head”.
**I think everyone knows, in the grand scheme of things, a head injury is worse, than a heel injury.**
The Redeemer, His arrival, and everything concerning His payment for mankind’s wrongdoings were foretold, all the way through the OT, [Old Testament].
Knowing this, let’s open the gospel of Luke, in the NT, [New Testament]. In chapter 2, we see the promised birth of the “Redeemer” coming to pass.
Luke 2:7-14 (MKJV) And she brought forth her son, the First-born, and wrapped Him, and laid Him in a manger— because there was no room for them in the inn. (This was actually an “Inn” from His families heritage. There were so many people in town requesting a place to stay. That there was no room for the messiah to be born in His own families house.)
Luk 2:8 And in the same country there were shepherds living in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. (Shepherds were looked at as some of the lowliest professional’s of the day. Isn’t it great that God basically says, “I don’t care what your status in life currently is. For I will always meet you right where you are?”)
Luk 2:9 And lo, the angel of the Lord came on them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them. And they were grievously afraid.
Luk 2:10 And the angel said to them, Do not fear. For behold, I give to you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
Luk 2:11 For to you is born today, in the city of David, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. (My friends, this is “The Promised One” from Genesis 3:15.)
Luk 2:12 And this is a sign to you. You will find the babe wrapped, lying in a manger.
Luk 2:13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God and saying,
Luk 2:14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
Can you imagine being there with the shepherds? Then seemingly out of nowhere, an angel appears with good tidings of “Great joy”! Then immediately following his announcement, an angelic host appears in the heavens and starts singing, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
Oh, what a glorious moment that would have been!
However, we don’t have to wait for a miraculous event to happen today. Because now we look back to the time of the “Promised Messiah’s” birth and we give glory and honor for what He has done.
Not only was His birth miraculous! But so was His entire life, death, burial, and resurrection from the dead.
The devil tried to get rid of Him, but it didn’t work.
For now after we accept Jesus Christ, as the Son of God, and as our Savior and Lord. Our name is solidified in the “Lamb’s Book of Life.” As a result, we are now called the son’s and daughter’s of “Almighty God!”
Oh, hallelujah! My friends, our God reigns and is alive forevermore, amen and amen!
